Philips' Brilliance 492P8 49-inch Curved Super-Wide UHD Display Hits US Shores In Q4

EPI, the North American brand partner for Philips monitors, has announced that it will have a very drool-worthy monitor available to purchase in the U.S. later this year. The 49-inch Philips Brilliance 492P8 is a curved super-wide display with a native resolution of 5120 x 1440.

That wide panel is a VA unit with 1800R curvature, up to 600 nits brightness and up to 5000:1 contrast ratio. Viewing angles are 178-degrees and it has very narrow bezels. The thin bezels of the monitor are intended to make them ideal for people that want to stack them in multiple monitor setups. EPI is aiming these monitors directly at finance, engineering, design, A/V production and other industries. Unfortunately, there's no word at the moment on what refresh rate the Brilliance 492P8 will ship with.

Connectivity options include DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C, VGA, USB 3.0, and Ethernet. If you recall, the original Brilliance 492P8 was unveiled at IFA 2017, and at the time came with a Samsung-manufactured 3840 x 1080 display.

"We are very excited and proud that our Brilliance 492P8 curved display has been recognized by iF Design Award jury. We take this as a confirmation of our outstanding capabilities in innovation and design and continue on our path to provide leading product innovations with dedicated design focus to the market," says David Ray, Marketing Director for North America at EPI.

We don't know how the Brilliance 492P8 will be priced when it launches during the fourth quarter, but we'll provide an update once that information is obtained.
