Bizarre Bug Causes Google Pixel 3 XL To Comically Grow A Second Notch

The notch isn’t the most beloved smartphone feature in the world; in fact, many people outright hate the notch. With manufacturers like Apple and others working to make screens as large as possible -- while still finding a place for the front speaker, camera, and sensors -- the notch has been a necessity. However, notch haters won't like the new flaw that some Pixel 3 XL owners have reported.

The bizarre Google Pixel 3 XL bug gives the smartphone an extra notch. This second notch has turned up on the right side of the screen, and it's clear that the bug has reproduced the top of the smartphone directly on the right upper half of the device. The notch is accompanied by rounded corners that would fit exactly at the top of the phone.

It's not clear what's causing the second notch issue, and while it's not widespread for all Pixel 3 owners, it has surfaced for enough users to know it's not some odd prank. Reports indicate at least three examples of the bug have been seen; the users in those instances report that the extra notch went away after restarting the device or tweaking the developer settings. Google has acknowledged the issue and said that a permanent fix to prevent this from happening is coming soon.

A second notch isn't the first annoying bug that has impacted users of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones; a more significant issue with images sometimes not saving surfaced this month. Google later acknowledged that bug and said a fix was inbound. Be sure to check out our review of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL for more information on these flagship smartphones.
