Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS Packs In-Screen Fingerprint Reader And 512GB Internal Storage

On the rear of the smartphone is a Lecia triple camera with 40MP image capture, which is the same setup seen on the recently announced Huawei P20 Pro. The screen of the smartphone is a 6-inch 2K curved OLED packing what Huawei says is “wonderfully symmetrical look, minimalist feel and a stylish 8-edged 3D curved glass body.”

The smartphone has 256GB or 512GB of internal storage and audio is handled by the Dual SLS (super linear system) with Dolby Atmos tech for surround sound on the go. Huawei also made the device splash, water, and dust resistant. The smartphone is only offered in black, but leather cases are offered in a range of colors including black and red.

Jan Becker, CEO PORSCHE DESIGN Group, said, "Both PORSCHE DESIGN and HUAWEI seek to imagine and develop products that stand for precision and perfection, intelligent functionality and highly sophisticated design. Our aim was to create an outstanding device that goes one step further. We believe we have reached this goal by taking our partnership to the next level."

The Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS will launch in April at “premium” retailers. The Verge reports that the device will carry a retail price of €1,695 and €2,095 depending on storage capacity. That works out to about $2,100 for the 256GB version and about $2,600 for the 512GB version. Both devices reportedly use a Kirin 970 processor 6GB of RAM, and a 4,000 mAh internal battery.
