Porsche Teases Taycan EV's Futuristic Interior Fully Decked Out With Multiple Displays

At this point, Porsche is going a bit overboard with the teasers for its upcoming Taycan electric vehicle. The Taycan is being billed as the first credible competitor to the Tesla Model S from a legacy automaker, and Porsche is pulling out all the stops to ensure that it offers a winning combination of performance, usable range, and styling.

Last week we got a small glimpse of the Taycan's interior along with confirmation that it would be the first vehicle with dedicated support for Apple Music streaming. Porsche has now fully revealed the Taycan's interior, and it is a tech enthusiast's dream come true. We count no less than four display screens in this particular example.

The primary display measures 16.8 inches and represents the instrument cluster. The display features a curve panel with a polarizing filter to help cut down on glare from the sun. There will be four display modes for the instrument cluster: Classic, Pure, Map, and Full Map. Classic will show Porsche's tradition round gauges setup, while Pure will only display items like speed, and traffic signs for a minimalist look. The Full Map mode will allow the navigational map to fully takeover the instrument cluster.

At the center top of the dashboard is a 10.9-inch panel that serves as a home for infotainment duties and gives access to all vehicle functions. There's an 8.4-inch panel that sets below right in the center stack. This screen will show information like climate controls and seat heating/cooling functions, and alternatively shows the charging status when the vehicle is plugged in.

There's another display panel that can be optionally added for the front passenger. This can display map, phone, and music information, allowing the passenger to serve as a co-pilot of sorts while the driver focuses on the primary task of blazing down the motorway on the lookout for the fuzz. A fifth display screen mounted on the back of the center console is optionally available for the rear passengers.

The 2020 Porsche Taycan will be officially revealed to the public on September 4th at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The vehicle is expected to have in excess of 600 horsepower and will have an estimated driving range of over 300 miles.
