Google Project Stream Beta Invites Now Arriving For Assassins Creed Odyssey

Sometimes making it into a beta test for a new service seems as unlikely as hitting the lottery. Some folks may have thought when Google announced Project Stream earlier this month and invited people to sign up for a chance at the beta test for the service, the odds of getting in on a Google beta for a completely new service were slim. As it turns out, it appears that Google invited everyone who signed up for the beta. If you signed up, check your email because you probably have an invite sitting there.

Inside the welcome email is a setup code unique to each user. To play you go to the Project Stream website, where you enter your setup code, agree that you are 17-years old or older, and agree to the terms of service; Chrome 69 or higher is required. Google will test your internet connection to be sure that it is fast enough to allow you to play smoothly; at least 25 Mbps is recommended. Once those steps are complete, you will be ready to roll on the Google side of things.

You will need a Ubisoft account since the game available in the Project Stream beta is Assassins Creed Odyssey. You do need to connect a gamepad to your PC or choose to use the mouse and keyboard for control. Only a few gamepads are compatible with the service if you choose to go that route. On Windows, MacOS X, and Linux supported controllers include the PlayStation DualShock 4 controller, Xbox One controller, and the Xbox 360 controller.

ChromeOS only supports the PlayStation DualShock 4 controller and the Xbox 360 controller. Google doesn’t recommend trying to play using the trackpad on your notebook; a wired external mouse is recommended. Everyone who participates in the Project Stream beta is given $10 worth of in-game currency to use. Since this is a beta test, you can count on issues surfacing between now and when the beta ends on January 19, 2019.
