The closed beta will begin next week with an “initial group of testers”, but there is currently no indication of how large that group of gamers will be. The developers have implied that more testers will be added to the closed beta over time.

The developers have also just revealed the character Anarki. Anarki was an Arena Lord and playable character in Quake III Arena. The trailer for his character shows him flying around the arena with his signature hoverboard and shooting himself up with “health injections”. Anarki’s passive ability is Hoverboard Air Control, which helps him to turn sharply in the air. He is also able to pick up speeds as he strafe-jumps. The trailer describes him as unhinged, demented, and vicious and features quips from his character like “Going strong and flying high, bro!”

The Quake Champions website also indicates that characters such as Nyx and Scalebearer will be available in the closed beta. Nyx is a fathom agent with the ability to ghost walk, while Scalebearer is a planetary war general with the ability to bull rush. Clutch, Galena, Ranger, Visor, and Sorlag all have what we can only presume are release dates next to their names. There will also be an assortment of weapons, witt the ones currently listed on the website including the Heavy Machinegun, Super Nailgun, Super Shotgun, Rocket Launcher, Lightning Gun, and Railgun.
