Renegade Elite Mini PC Board Emerges As An Upscale Raspberry Pi 3 Rival With 4K Streaming, Hexa-Core CPU

A new device called the Renegade Elite (ROC-RK3399-PC) has surfaced as a competitor to the Raspberry Pi 3 that is packing much higher specifications and can stream 4K video, albeit significantly more expensive. The Renegade Elite is made by Libre Computer and will soon surface for pre-order on Indiegogo.

One thing not in the favor of the Renegade Elite is the price. While the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ sells for $35, the Renegade Elite will set you back $100. That much loot will get you a hexa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and dual USB 3.0 Type-C ports, one of which can be used for power input. Other features include three standard USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 2.0 output, and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.

Storage expansion is available thanks to an eMMC 5.x interface and a microSD card slot. The board can run GNU/Linux-based operating systems just as the Raspberry Pi can and Renegade Elite can also run Android Oreo. That means you can also turn the Renegade into an Android game console.

Libre Computer says that normal retail units will land in August, but you can expect those to cost you more than the Indiegogo pre-order. Retail prices might be as much as 20% more than the pre-order price of $100.
