Rocket League Update To Deliver Trade-In System And Player Trading Next Month

Psyonix is adding some cool new functionality to Rocket League, its futuristic physics-based vehicle soccer game featuring plenty of fun and mayhem. Beginning later this month, it's expanding on the Item Attribute System it unveiled last week by adding "Rare" and "Very Rare" customization items to its existing online item drop pool, which will play a role in a brand new trade-in system announced today.

Over the past few months, Psyonix says gamers have been asking about having multiple copies of Uncommon items in their Garages. The trade-in system is the answer to that dilemma, as it allows gamers to trade five duplicate Uncommon or Rare items at a time for a single item of the next highest quality. For example, if you have five Uncommon items, you can trade them in for a Rare one.

What about trading between players? Psyonix says it plans to implement player trading as well, though it didn't say exactly when.

"Some items, like those with 'Painted' or 'Certified' attributes, may become much more valuable if you can trade them to other players. The 'Trade-In System' is designed to let you get rid of unwanted or duplicate items, but you should consider carefully what you trade now versus what you might want to keep for future player-trading opportunities," Psyonix says.

Some of the new stuff that will be included in item drops through online matches include themed gear inspired by Psyonix's meta theme, which will be revealed later this week. Dropped items will also include rare decals for cars and a few very rare new Boost trails.

Look for all of these goodies to be included in the June update due out this month.
