Rumors Suggest HP Is Planning A 7-Inch Tablet

HP is planning to launch its 9.7-inch TouchPad tablet in the U.S. this Friday. Before the launch, new rumors suggest HP may also have another tablet up its sleeves: a 7-inch model. According to the rumors, the 7-inch tablet will be revealed in August.  According to Taiwan Economic News, Inventec will manufacture the tablet. HP has reportedly placed an order for 400,000 to 450,000 Touch Pad tablet PCs per month.

Although no specifications have been revealed, many people expect the 7-inch version of the TouchPad to have similar hardware features as its big brother. HP's 9.7-inch TouchPad tablet is scheduled to launch on July 1. It will carry a price tag of $499.99 for the 16GB model and $599.99 for the 32GB model. The tablet will run on HP's WebOS and a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor.

Initially, the 9.7-inch TouchPad will be available as a Wi-Fi only version. Later this summer, a version of the TouchPad will also be available through AT&T. The TouchPad will be available through various retailers including Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Walmart, Sam's Club, OfficeMax, Amazon.com, Fry's, and Microcenter.
