Samsung Built A 5G Version Of The Smaller Galaxy Note 10, But Is Limiting Availability
During yesterday's Samsung Unpacked event, the South Korean electronics maker briefly displayed a slide showing the two main versions of the Galaxy Note 10, and accompanying price points. As shown above, there are also 5G variants of both the Galaxy Note 10+ and, yes, the smaller Galaxy Note 10, though availability for the smaller model is limited.
According to the slide, US pricing breaks down as follows...
- Galaxy Note 10: $949 and up
- Galaxy Note 10 5G: $1,049 and up
- Galaxy Note 10+: $1,099 and up
- Galaxy Note 10+ 5G: $1,299 and up
However, even though Samsung displayed US pricing for all four SKUs, only three of them are available in the US. The smaller Galaxy Note 10 5G will only launch in South Korea. It's not clear why Samsung has chosen to make that particular SKU exclusive to South Korea, though this sort of thing is not exactly unusual.
This is not a huge deal, though still disappointing for users who prefer the smaller form factor but still want to 5G connectivity. Otherwise, users are looking at spending $1,299 or more for 5G support. To Samsung's credit, though, it has been good about offering various deals and promotions, and the Galaxy Note 10 series will likely follow suit.
In case you missed it, the Galaxy Note 10 wields a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor in the US, or Samsung's own newly announced 7-nanometer Exynos 9825 SoC in other territories. The smaller version sports 8GB of RAM with 256GB of internal storage, whereas the Galaxy Note 10+ models boast 12GB or RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage.
The Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ will release on August 23 (and are available to preorder starting today).
