Samsung CJ791 QLED Thunderbolt 3 Curved Monitor Heads To CES 2018
Samsung has a new computer monitor that is aiming at both business users and gamers that will make an official appearance at CES 2018. The CJ791 QLED monitor has Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, and can be connected to supported notebooks with a single cable.
The monitor is also able to pass up to 85W of charging power through to the notebook to charge it up as you watch your favorite movie on the widescreen. Samsung claims that this is the world's first curved monitor to feature the Thunderbolt 3 technology from Intel.
"As the pioneer of the curved monitor industry, Samsung continues to seek new ways to refine our displays and exceed consumers’ expectations on heightened performance and presentation," said Seog-gi Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "The CJ791 aligns Thunderbolt 3 connectivity with our best-in-class curvature and QLED picture quality to captivate and engage users, while also promoting improved organization and productivity. We are thrilled to demonstrate the full capabilities of our innovative new display to CES 2018 attendees."
Samsung gave the CJ791 a 21:9 aspect ratio and a native resolution of 3440 x 1440, which is ultra-wide QHD. The wide screen is aimed at professional users wanting to view documents and other content in a wider format that doesn't require as much scrolling.
The monitor features a stand that is both height and tilt adjustable. For gamers out there, the CJ791 promises brilliant and realistic detail according to Samsung. The monitor covers 125% of the sRGB spectrum and delivers deeper blacks and brighter whites. The monitor has a 1,500R curvature and ultra-wide 178-degree viewing angles. The response time for the panel is 4ms. More details will be offered at CES 2018, presumably that will include pricing and availability.
