It's no secret that Samsung's GALAXY S III smartphone is a hot phone. Today, Samsung announced the phone has reached a record 20 million in sales in just 100 days. The phone originally made its debut in May 2012. With this record, the GALAXY S III has become the most successful smartphone Samsung has released to date.

As you may recall, the GALAXY S III features a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen (1280x720), a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM, 16 GB or 32 GB of internal memory, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.9MP front-facing camera, and a 2100 mAh Lithium Ion battery. Samsung also includes a number of additional features with the phone such as Smart Stay, S Beam and AllShare Cast.

“The GALAXY S III has enjoyed tremendous attention and popularity since its launch in May, and we are thrilled with its success,” said JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to customers who have chosen the GALAXY S III. We will never stop providing the latest smart mobile technologies to help users live a life extraordinary.”

To further expand the line, Samsung announced four new color varieties to its Galaxy S III line. The new colors include Amber Brown, Garnet Red, Sapphire Black and Titanium Gray. The phone will continue to be available in Pebble Blue and Marble White as well. As you may expect, the availability of colors will vary depending on the country and carrier/retailer.
