Samsung Galaxy S7 And Galaxy S7 Edge Pre-orders Open In U.S., Include Free Gear VR Headset

If you were wowed by the introduction of the 5.1-inch Samsung Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge over the weekend, you’ll be glad to know that pre-orders for both smartphones have now opened up in the United States. All four major wireless carriers — Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint — are carrying the phone along with U.S. Cellular and retailer Best Buy.

The off-contract pricing for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge comes in at $699 and $799 respectively, however, total out-of-pocket pricing varies depending on what carrier you select. For example, picking up a Galaxy S7 from Verizon will cost you $28/month for 24 months, making for a total price of $672. Buying the same phone on Sprint will cost you $25.99/month for 24 months, bringing the total outlay to $623.7.

Prices for the Galaxy S7 Edge vary just as widely with T-Mobile charging $32.50/month for 24 months, or $779.99 upfront, while Verizon charges $33/month for 24 months for a total of $792.

It should be noted that everyone that pre-orders a Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge will get a free Gear VR headset and a software bundle that includes 6 free games. Samsung says that this bundle is valued at $150. In addition, some carriers are offering additional promotions to boost sales. For example, T-Mobile is giving customers a free year of Netflix if customers pre-order either smartphone. Best Buy, on the other hand, is offering up a free 64GB Samsung microSD card to the package deal.

Both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, microSD slot, 12MP dual-pixel rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. Both smartphones feature QHD Super AMOLED displays, although the S7 Edge features a more dramatic dual-curved edged display. And wile the Galaxy S7 contains a non-removable 3000mAh battery, the larger Galaxy S7 Edge has room for a bigger 3600mAh unit. Other features include Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 802.11ac MU-MIMI Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC support, wireless charging and IP68 dust- and water-resistance ratings.
