Galaxy S9 Leak Suggests Even Higher Pricing For Samsung's Flagship Phones
According to leaked pricing posted by incredibly reliable gadget leaker Evan Blass, the Galaxy S9 will have a base price of €841 in Europe, while the Galaxy S9+ will be priced at wallet busting €997. Those figures would put the smartphones at around $1,040 and $1,230 when straight converting to U.S. dollars.
However, conventional wisdom would suggest that U.S. pricing would come in a below those figures. Last year’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ retailed for around $750 and $850 respectively in the U.S. Given the feature bumps for this year, and the upward pricing trend for flagships, we might see those figures rise to $850 and $950 respectively (or higher). For comparison, the 64GB and 256GB versions of the iPhone X are priced at $999 and $1,149 respectively.

Given that many customers now purchase their smartphones on installment plans, where they pay a little bit each month until the device is paid off, these high-price smartphones have become more common. Since customers don't have to shell out the entire purchase price of the device at once, they can justify the higher price with the monthly payments.
We also have to remember that Samsung usually has some rather generous trade-in programs and freebie offers when it launches new flagships, so that could take a bit of the sting out of a Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ purchase.
The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or Samsung Exynos 9810 processors depending on market. The Galaxy S9 is said to incorporate 4GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S9+ will have 6GB along with dual cameras on the back. Earlier reports suggested that the Galaxy S9+ would come standard with 128GB of internal storage, but we're now hearing that both phones will have 64GB, which can be expanded with a microSD slot.
Whatever the case, we'll learn all the details surrounding the phones on February 25th; that's when they'll be officially unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
