Back in late February, Samsung announced its sleek and sporty Galaxy Watch Active, which is an Exynos 9110-powered smartwatch with a 1.1-inch 360x360 display running Tizen OS. Given that we are not far removed from the launch of the Galaxy Watch Active, we weren't expecting to see its successor this soon.

SamMobile claims to have uncovered photo evidence of the Galaxy Watch Active 2, and reports that the device will be available in 40mm and 44mm case sizes. Like the original Galaxy Watch Active, you won't find a rotating bezel around the display. However, the power button is now round in shape, while the back button is rectangular-shaped.

Further details revealed include a 237mah battery for the Wi-Fi model and a 340 mAh battery for the optional LTE version. In addition, SamMobile claims that the Galaxy Watch Active will get an update to the One UI (version 1.5), which is very similar to the One UI that has been spread throughout the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note flagship phones.

At this point, there is no indication of when the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will launch. The next big opportunity for an announcement would be during the Galaxy Note 10 event, which will likely occur in early August. However, we'll likely see the follow-up to the flagship Galaxy Watch instead (complete with a rotating bezel).

The current generation Galaxy Watch Active is priced from $199.
