Samsung Introduces 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot On Verizon Wireless

Another Verizon Wireless / Samsung announcement? It's true! The two companies just keep on giving at CES this year, this time introducing something for those who just can't stand to disconnect while on the go. VZW was one of the first carriers out with Novatel Wireless' MiFi 2200, but that only operates on 3G. Now, with the company's 4G LTE network live in 38 regions around the country, it's time for 4G hotspots.

Samsung Mobile has just launched the 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot, a handheld, battery-powered device that connects to Verizon's LTE network and rakes in download rates between 5Mbps and 12Mbps, while upload rates can reach between 2Mbps and 5Mbps. Best of all, this mobile device is also backwards compatible with Verizon's 3G network, so whenever you leave one of those 38 LTE areas, you can still hop online using the older 3G network. Not bad, right?

Neither Samsung nor Verizon will admit to a price, but it's expected to ship at some point during the first half of this year.
