Samsung Introduces Cameras With Social Networking In Mind
Samsung unveiled three new compact digital
cameras designed with social networking in mind. The new TL225 and TL220
are DualView cameras that have two LCDs—one on the front of the camera and
another on the back. Samsung’s new CL65 provides numerous means of
connectivity, offering geotagging, Bluetooth 2.0, DLNA, and Wi-Fi capabilities.
Samsung DualView Cameras: TL225 & TL220
With the growing popularity of social networking, many more people are taking self portraits. By adding a 1.5-inch LCD on the front of the TL225 and the TL220, Samsung is making it even easier for users to turn the camera on themselves and capture an excellent profile picture. The cameras also incorporate Samsung’s new Smart Gesture User Interface with a built-in gravity sensor. When the camera is powered on, a simple tap on the front LCD will activate this feature and set the camera to Self Portrait Mode with smile detection. Using this technology and the front LCD, all users have to do is tap and smile to capture self portraits.
On the back of the TL225, you’ll find a 3.5-inch wide 1,152,000-pixel touchscreen. The TL220 uses a slightly smaller, 3-inch wide 230,000-pixel touchscreen. Both cameras offer a 12.2 megapixel CCD and a 27mm wide-angle Schneider KREUZNACH lens with 4.6x optical zoom. Additional features include the ability to capture videos in 720p / H.264 format, Smile Shot, Smart Face Recognition, and Smart Auto mode.

The CL65 offers numerous connectivity options. This camera incorporates geo-tagging technology that records the location and time an image is taken and embeds that information in a photo’s EXIF data. Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities enable the camera to share images wirelessly with supported devices such as mobile phones, and Wi-Fi connectivity lets you email your photos directly from the camera and upload them to popular social networking websites including Facebook, Picasa, and YouTube. Finally, the camera’s DLNA compatibility enables it to wirelessly connect to another DLNA compatible device such as an HDTV within a user’s networked home to view and share images.
The CL65 uses a 12.2 megapixel sensor and has a 5x internal Schneider-KREUZNACH optical zoom lens. You’ll find a 3.5-inch wide 1,152,000-pixel touchscreen on the camera as well as the ability to record movies in 720p HD / H.264 format. Additional features include Smart Gesture UI, optical and digital image stabilization, Smart Touch Auto Focus, Smart Auto, Smart Face Recognition, and more.
All three of the new cameras will be available in September. The TL225 is expected to cost $349.99 while the TL220 will run $299.99. The estimated selling price of the CL65 is $399.99.
