Samsung Launches 34-Inches Of Curved WQHD Love With SE790C Monitor

If you're buying into the benefits of a curved display, you'll be thrilled to know that Samsung has introduced what it claims is the most advanced curved monitor the world has ever seen. It's also known by its model designation -- SE790C. However you want to refer to it, Samsung's newest curved display features a 34-inch display with an ultra-wide quad high-definition (Ultra-WQHD) resolution (3440x1440) with a 21:9 aspect ratio.

"All curves are not created equal. Samsung’s SE790C offers an industry-leading and award-winning curvature for a truly immersive, comfortable and differentiating viewing experience," said Seoggi Kim, Senior Vice President, Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics. "Combined with superior picture quality, productivity and entertainment-enhancing technology features, and design sophistication, our latest curved monitor delivers on our brand promise to push the limits of what display solutions and innovative technology can deliver."

The display has a curvature radius of 3,000mm to provide what Samsung claims is a "noticeably different viewing experience" compared to your old school flat screen monitor where the viewing distance differs from the center of the screen to the edges. On the SE790C, viewing distances supposedly more closely match the natural curve of a viewer's eyeballs, resulting in less distortion, less eyestrain, and enhanced comfort.

In terms of technical specs, the SE790C sports a static contrast ratio of 3,000:1, 300 cd/m2 brightness, and 178 degrees of horizontal and vertical viewing angles. It also boasts features such as Picture-by-Picture (PbP), Picture-in-Picture (PiP), four USB 3.0 super-charging ports, built-in 7-watt dual stereo speakers, and a height-adjustable stand with hidden VESA bracket support.

No word yet on when the monitor will be available or what the asking price will be.
