Samsung Launches Galaxy Watch Active With Blood Pressure Monitor And Galaxy Buds
The wearable is a more fitness-oriented alternative to last year's Galaxy Watch and can be configured in black, silver, rose gold or sea green. Getting down to specifics, the smartwatch has a 1.1-inch 360x360 display and is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 9110 processor. There's 768MB of RAM included and 4GB of internal storage to hold your apps and music. Charging the 230 mAh battery is handled with a wireless pad, and the Galaxy Watch Active is IP68 rated. In addition, Samsung has included its Bixby assistant for controlling the smartwatch (including making calls) just by using your voice.
However, the big new features of the Galaxy Watch Active is its inclusion of blood pressure monitoring. While most smartwatches and fitness bands include a heart rate monitor of some kind, blood pressure sensors have been MIA. Using an app called My BP Link, which was developed in conjunction with the University of California, you will be able to actively monitor your blood pressure throughout your busy daily schedule and during workouts. The app will be available beginning March 15th.
Speaking of workouts, the Galaxy Watch Active can track over three dozen activities, and an even autodetect when you start an activity like riding a bike or running.
As with previous Galaxy wearables, the Galaxy Watch Active is compatible with Android and iOS devices, and Samsung says that it will be available starting March 8thwith a price tag of $199.99.
If your fitness tracking needs aren't as demanding, Samsung has also announced the Galaxy Fit. This fitness tracker has a 0.95-inch AMOLED touch display and a comfortable rubber strap. As you might expect, it features a heart rate sensor and is water resistant (up to 5ATM). It also connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and allows you to select from other 90 different actives from within the Samsung Health app.
Samsung says that the Galaxy Fit can last up to a week per charge, and will be available to purchase starting May 31st at a price of $99.
Finally, we have the Galaxy Buds, which are Samsung’s answer to the Apple AirPods. These wireless earbuds have sound that was tuned by AKG and include an Enhanced Ambient Sound mode that enables you to hear what's going on around your environment so that you're not totally engrossed in your music when navigating busy streets. They incorporate Adaptive Dual Microphones to (one inner, one outer) to make sure that your voice is heard loud and clear when on calls.
Samsung says that the Galaxy Buds can operate for six hours if you're streaming music or five hours when making calls. They come with a charging case when can give you an additional seven hours of runtime time on-the-go. And since the case supports wireless charging, Samsung's new Galaxy S10 family can also recharge your Galaxy Buds. One other item of note; the Bixby assistant is also incorporated into the Galaxy Buds.
The Galaxy Buds will be available on March 8th priced at $129.99.
