Samsung is offering up a specs tour de force with its new Odyssey G9, which is a massive 49-inch QLED gaming monitor with a radical 1000R curvature (we typically see panels with shallower curves of around 1800R). The Odyssey G9 will be on display next week at CES 2020 in Las Vegs, and those that will be able to see it in person at the show will be in for a treat.

The Odyssey G9 has a resolution of 5120x1440 (32:9 aspect ratio) and a peak brightness rating of 1,000 nits (HDR 1000 certified). The VA panel has support for both AMD FreeSync 2 and NVIDIA G-SYNC, while delivering 240Hz refresh rates for gamers. You'll also find the Odyssey G9 is rated for a lightning fast 1ms response time.

As if its wild 1000R curvature wasn’t enough of a visual punch to the face, the Odyssey G9 also has a glowing orb-like protrusion on its rear that plugs into the display stand. It supports Infinity Core Lighting with 52 colors offered across 5 operating modes.

If the Odyssey G9 is too extreme for you, there are also two lesser models in the G7 family. The Odyssey G7 family is offered in both 27-inch and 32-inch screen sizes with a QHD resolution (2560x1440). Both monitors offer HDR 600 certification and also adopt QLED display technology.

Samsung has not announced pricing for the Odyssey G9 and Odyssey G7, but did state that they will be available during the second quarter of 2020.
