Samsung Packs Big Features Into Compact Point-and-Shoot

Maybe you're not interested in forking over a handful of hundreds for one of Samsung's new DualView cameras. That's okay, Samsung isn't holding a grudge, and to prove it, the company has gone and released a sub-$200 point-and-shoot that should slide neatly into your shirt or pants pocket. It's called the PL200, a stylish little digicam that measures a scant 3.9 x 2.3 x 0.83 inches, yet harbors a respectable 3.0-inch LCD screen.

"The PL200 is the ideal digital camera for those who value simplicity but also long for a more immersive digital imaging experience," said Reid Sullivan, senior vice president of Mobile Entertainment Marketing, Samsung Electronics America. "With the PL200, consumers can experience the versatility offered by more advanced digital cameras, along with a comprehensive suite of automatic controls, allowing them to step up to the next level of digital camera without stepping outside of their comfort zone."

Armed with a 7x optical zoom lens, the PL200 comes capable of snapping monstrous 14.2 megapixel pictures. But that isn't all Samsung crammed into the PL200's little case. Other features include the ability to record 720p HD video, image stabilization, and a barrel full of marketing bullets, such as Smart Auto (Still & Movie), Blink Detection, Face Detection, Beauty Shot, and Smile Shot. It also comes with a Smart Album feature to manage all those awesome photos you took.

Look for the PL200 to hit retail in September for $180.
