Samsung’s Latest Galaxy S6 Teaser Confirms Switch From Cheap Plastic To Metal Body

To say that the Galaxy S5 has been a sales disappointment for Samsung is a bit of an understatement. Customers weren’t exactly won over by what amounted to a warmed over Galaxy S4 in terms of design and specs. And whereas competitors like HTC and Apple have fully embraced unibody aluminum designs for their flagships, Samsung was still clinging on to cheap plastic for its top offering.

That is all set to change with the release of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge that will be released in early March. Samsung has released a series of teasers over the past few weeks, one of which appears to show the curved screen of the Galaxy S6 Edge. More recently, Samsung has posted teasers playing up its “lighting fast” Exynos processor and the Galaxy S6’s slim profile. 

Today, Samsung has posted yet another teaser, this time focusing in on more premium materials that will be used in its flagship. You can view the 45-second teaser right here:

The Galaxy S6’s aluminum chassis has already been leaked, and numerous renders have been released which give us a general idea of what the smartphone will look when it is unveiled next month.

When the Galaxy S6 does arrive, it’s expected to be powered by an Exynos 7 SoC and feature a 5.1-inch QHD display. Samsung has also talked up an “amazing” new camera system that will appear on the smartphone and the possibility of built-in wireless charging. And we can’t forget the probable introduction of the LoopPay wireless payment service that will likely debut with Samsung’s newest flagship.
