SanDisk's 1TB microSD Finally Available, 400GB Card Now $57 With This Hot Deal
For the first time ever, you can buy a 1TB capacity microSD card, courtesy of SanDisk (which has beaten Micron to the retail punch). That is provided you have the requisite cash—the asking price is $449.99, and it does not appear that street pricing is any lower than the MSRP at the moment. That may change, though don't expect this amount of microSD storage to be cheap in the near future.
For those who can afford it, this is a massive amount of storage for supported devices. That is something you will want to double check before plunking down several hundred dollars, as some devices have a cap on how much storage they support.
High resolution cameras and camcorders are obvious destinations for something like this. The same goes for smartphones.

Performance is somewhat of a question mark here. Previously, SanDisk said its 1TB Extreme microSD card would hit read speeds of up to 160MB/s and write speeds of up to 90MB/s. Indeed, that is also what the product listing on Amazon states. However, on SanDisk's own product page, the read speed is only listed at 60MB/s. That is probably a typo, though it does appear more than once.
In addition to cameras, camcorders, and smartphones, a 1TB microSD card would be killer in a Nintendo Switch. The Switch only comes with 32GB of built-in storage, and adding a memory card is almost a requisite (we certainly recommend it). According to Nintendo, the Switch supports microSD cards up to 2GB, microSDHC cards from 4GB to 32GB, and microSDXC cards 64GB and above. So in theory, SanDisk's new 1TB model should work just fine (we have not tested this ourselves).
If paying $449.99 for a 1TB memory card does not sound appealing, there are better bang-for-buck options available. Namely, there is a SanDisk Ultra 400GB card that is on sale for $56.99 on Amazon, down from its regular $77.90 price. Here are some handy links for both cards...
