Western Digital's SanDisk 400GB microSD Is Big On Storage, Tiny In Stature

SanDisk has pulled off the microSD card equivalent of a tiny car filled with an endless supply of clowns with its latest microSD card. Somehow SanDisk has managed to cram 400GB of storage into a tiny microSD card the size of a thumbnail. The new offering is currently the world's highest capacity microSD card for use in mobile devices.

If you have a smartphone that takes super high resolution images or records 4k video, the 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card is the storage device you want. The idea is that you never have to delete any of the photos, apps, or video that you want on your device and still have room to add more.

SanDisk says that the memory card can store up to 40 hours of full HD video and supports fast transfer speeds of up to 100MB/s. That is fast enough to support the moving of 1,200 photos per minute. A1 App Performance Class specification means that the memory card is able to launch apps faster as well.

The memory card is fully compatible with the SanDisk Memory Zone app that allows users to find, organize, transfer, and backup data on their devices including tagged content from Facebook and Instagram. The 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I memory card has a 10-year limited warranty and will sell for $249.99 direct from SanDisk and from other major retailers, it's not clear exactly when the memory card will be available.
