How To Save 20 Percent On Super Mario Odyssey For Switch And Red Dead Redemption 2 Preorders

Red Dead Redemption 2 and Super Mario Odyssey

Now is a good time to be a multi-platform gamer. That's because some high profile games are on sale, including Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch and Red Dead Redemption 2 for the PlayStation 4 (and maybe the Xbox One as well). You have to act fast, though, as we are not sure how long either of these discounts will last. Red Dead Redemption 2, for example, seems to have already sold out of discounted Xbox One preorders.

It's been a bit of a wild ride for Red Dead Redemption 2 so far, which Rockstar Games first announced in October 2016. At the time, the developer said the sequel would release in Fall 2017. That changed in May, with Rockstar Games pushing the launch back to Spring 2018. Just two days ago, the developer announced another delay, saying Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available on October 26, 2018. It's the first time there has been a specific day tied to the game's release.

Red Dead Redemption 2

In anticipation for its release, you can preorder the game at several places, though only one vendor is offering a discount at the moment. That vendor is Newegg, where Red Dead Redemption 2 is available to preorder for $49.99 for the PS4, versus $59.99 everywhere else. The same was previously true of the Xbox One version, though that SKU is no longer showing up. If you're interested in the Xbox One version, keep checking in case it comes back in stock.

Also keep an eye out for a possible trailer during Super Bowl LXII today. It was rumored there would be a trailer during last year's Super Bowl, then it never materialized. Maybe this year will be different.

Super Mario Odyssey

As for Super Mario Odyssey, it's available for a 20 percent discount at Amazon and Walmart, both of which are selling the game for $48.66 (versus $59.99). This is one of the hottest titles for the Switch right now. It's also perhaps a more noteworthy discount, since Nintendo can be a bit stingy when it comes to hardware and software sales.

Super Mario Odyssey is also going to get some DLC, even though none was expected when it was released. The DLC, called Balloon World, will include new outfits and introduce an asynchronous online multiplayer mode available to players who have finished the main story of the game.
