Second Windows 10 Technical Preview For Phones Coming Friday At 1PM EST

Back on March 28th hothardware.com alluded to the imminent release of a second Windows 10 for Phone technical preview, and yesterday Microsoft's Gabe Aul confirmed on Twit.tv's Windows Weekly podcast that the new build will be available as of this Friday, April 10th, at 10AM PST (1PM EST).

Specific details of the new Windows 10 for Phone build are not yet available. What did come to light, though, is that the Lumia Icon and the 930 (the Icon's international variant) will not be supported in this update round due to a bug with device scaling (a bug that is expected to be addressed in time for the ensuing build). The other 35 Microsoft phones cited for update at the end of March, though, remain on the list and include:

Lumia 1020 • Lumia 1320 • Lumia 1520 • Lumia 520 • Lumia 525 • Lumia 526 • Lumia 530 • Lumia 530 Dual Sim • Lumia 535 • Lumia 620 • Lumia 625 • Lumia 630 • Lumia 630 Dual Sim • Lumia 635 • Lumia 636 • Lumia 638 • Lumia 720 • Lumia 730 • Lumia 730 Dual SIM • Lumia 735 • Lumia 810 • Lumia 820 • Lumia 822 • Lumia 830 • Lumia 920 • Lumia 925 • Lumia 928 • Microsoft Lumia 430 • Microsoft Lumia 435 • Microsoft Lumia 435 Dual SIM • Microsoft Lumia 435 Dual SIM DTV • Microsoft Lumia 532 • Microsoft Lumia 532 Dual SIM • Microsoft Lumia 640 Dual SIM • Microsoft Lumia 535 Dual SIM

The dramatic increase in supported devices by Microsoft is important, especially considering the company's diminutive foothold in the mobile market. More important for MSFT, though, is that this second preview jump out of the box and onto user devices, not with the same whimper as February's first technical preview but with a bang dramatic enough to extend somewhat beyond the already-initiated.

According to Aul, a detailed list of the changes baked into with the second technical preview of Windows 10 for Phone will be released via Microsoft blog later this week, including some requested by actual previewers.
