Secret Red Dead Redemption 2 Mission Found Lurking In GTA Online Code

Double-Action Revolver

Well, what do you know—Rockstar is in fact linking its unreleased Red Dead Redemption 2 game with GTA Online, as some Internet sleuths discovered prior to an official announcement. While digging through GTA Online's files, players found references to Red Dead Redemption 2, sparking rumors there would be a themed mission that would allow gamers to earn a new revolver. Sure enough, that will be the case.
"Rumors of a lost relic from the frontier have begun to surface, and treasure awaits those bold enough to seek it. Keep an eye on your iFruit for a special in-game email containing the first clue, then follow the trail to unlock the Double-Action Revolver in GTA Online," Rockstar stated in a blog post today.

The datamine suggests the crossover mission will be a scavenger hunt that will take players all over San Andreas, requiring that they take pictures of different landmarks. Doing so will eventually unlock the Double-Action Revolver. Once the Double-Action Revolver is in-hand, players will be able to complete a Headshot Challenge in Freemode for a $250,000 reward (in GTA money, of course). It will also be unlocked for "future gun-slinging exploits in Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One," Rockstar added.

This looks to be a fun addition, one that follows the Doomsday Heist update, the biggest yet to GTA Online. The Doomsday Heist gives gamers another mission and new items to play with, including new vehicles. Now they can look forward to a crossover item.

Barring any further delays, Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch sometime in Spring 2018. Beyond that, Rockstar has not been more specific
