Sony's 4K Flagship OLED TV Family Officially Priced From $2,499
During CES 2019 there were a bunch of dazzling OLED TVs on display that promised better image quality than the LCD sets that made up most TVs at the show. Sony has now thrown down the gauntlet by announcing pricing for its brand new range of gorgeous OLED TVs.
Sony's new 4K OLED TV starts at $2,499.99 for an A8G 55-inch unit with the TV shipping in May. OLED TV fans wanting a larger 65-inch screen will pay $3,499.99, with that TV available in May. Sony will have higher-end OLED TVs available as well and has announced prices on its Master Series A9G 4K OLED TVs. The segment starts at a 55-inch size for $3,499.99, and the larger 65-inch will sell for $4,499.99: both ship in May.
Stepping up to the 77-inch A9G will set you back $7,999.99 and that TV will land in June. Shoppers wanting to get in on the 8K future can get the Master Series Z9G 8K HDR TV starting at $12,999.99 which ships in June. Those with lots of space and very deep wallets can get the gigantic Sony Master Series Z9G 8K HDR TV with a 98-inch screen for $69,999.99 with shipping in June.
The higher-end A9G, Z9G, and X950G TV lines will all use the X1 Ultimate Processor. In the 8K TVs, this chip allows upscaling of 4K content to 8K resolution to take advantage of the TVs 8K capability in a time when no content supports that resolution. Sony also says the chip is better than the one it replaces at improving the details and clarity of all objects on the screen. Sony's full list of TVs, pricing, and launch dates for 2019 is below.
