Sony's PlayStation Black Friday Deals Rock Deep Discounts On Consoles And PSVR

Sony PlayStation 4 Black Friday Week
The absolute worst time to buy a game console is right before the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales arrive in force. Pulling the trigger prematurely is a surefire way of having buyer's remorse. So, if you're in the market for a new game console, wait a few days. There are going to be discounts, including a bunch of PlayStation 4 deals, some of which Sony announced today.

Starting with the core console, Sony will be serving up a new Marvel Spider-Man Standard Edition PS4 bundle for $199.99 USD ($259.99 CAN). Not to be confused with the limited edition themed bundle, this version sports a jet-black console with a matching DualShock 4 wireless controller and a physical copy of Marvel's Spider-Man from Insomniac Games.

I've spent some hands-on time with Spider-Man and can attest that it lives up to the hype—there's really never been a more delightful Spider-Man game, and it's certainly leaps and bounds ahead of the Atari 2600 version released in 1985 by Parker Brothers (we've come a long way in gaming, folks).

Sony will also be discounting its DualShock 4 wireless controllers to $39.99 USD / $49.99 CAN at participating retailers. That's down from the $59.99 MSRP, though you can typically find them for less than that. The Black Friday applies to various color models, including the new Blue Camouflage, Magma Red, Midnight Blue, Gold, and Crystal.

If you've been wanting to dip your toes (and head) into VR, PlayStation VR (PSVR) systems will be available for $199.99 USD / $249.99 CAN. And finally, Sony will be offering discounts on 12-month PlayStation Plus subscriptions, while simultaneously offering "special deals on popular game titles."

Black Friday offers will be in effect starting November 16 in the US and November 22 in Canada.
