Sony Xperia XZ Pro With 4K OLED Display, Snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM Rumored For February Launch

The latest word on the street is that Sony is grooming a brand new 4K Xperia smartphone. If the report is accurate, the rumored Sony Xperia XZ Pro will be the company’s third device with an impressive 4K display resolution after the Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia XZ Premium.

The report alleges that the Sony Xperia XZ Pro will come with a 5.7-inch 4K OLED display, a slight step down from the 4K HDR panel found on the Xperia XZ Premium we spoke of nearly a year ago. It’s expected the device will also feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, up from the Snapdragon 835 found on the XZ Premium. Also intriguing is the reported 6GB of RAM with a capacious 128GB of onboard storage – room enough for more than a couple episodes of Stranger Things.

Other rumored features include a rear dual-camera setup (each at 18MP) and a 12MP selfie shooter, which is down a bit from the 19MP/13MP on the XZ Premium. Power on this one is coming from a possible 3,420mAh battery. This is a slight upgrade from the XZ Premium, which leverages a smaller 3,230mAh Smart Stamina battery with Qnovo Adaptive Charging.

Unfortunately, we don’t know which Android OS version the device will ship with, though we are hoping that it will come preloaded with Oreo. Like you, we’re also waiting to hear on pricing and availability.

While other companies have yet to feature 4K on a handset, Sony holds a firm kung-fu grip on the bragging rates in this arena. Stay tuned for more on this one as it develops.
