Sony's 10.1" Xperia Tablet Z Packs 1.5GHz Quad-Core Processor, LTE, And NFC
While it's no doubt tough to make inroads in the tablet market these days, you won't catch Sony resting on its laurels. As the company strives to make something of a comeback in the mobile and computing sectors, it's going to lean heavily on the new Xperia Tablet Z to make some positive impressions. The new 10.1" slate launched today, and it's one of the most powerful and well-specced tablets to ever hit the public. Inside, there's a 1.5GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor (APQ8064), 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, and a 10.1" touch panel with a highly dense 1920x1200 resolution.
There's also an 8.1MP Exmor R camera, an LTE module, built-in NFC support, a microSD expansion slot, and S-Force virtual surround. The entire slate measures just 6.9mm thick, and it looks as if this is now the world's thinnest and lightest 10.1" tablet. What's craziest, however, is that the unit is dustproof and waterproof right from the factory, making it suitable for field use. As for pricing and availability? Those details have yet to come.
