Spring Sale Drops Xbox One To A Tempting $299 And Microsoft Considers Used Game Buy-Back
Life is all about timing, isn't it? Whether you're you're milking the shot clock before heaving a potentially winning bucket in basketball or buying a modern generation game console, timing matters. With regards to the latter, Microsoft has marked down the price of its Xbox One system to $299 as part of its Spring Sale.
The sale kicked off yesterday and runs for a "limited time" (your guess is as good as ours). While it's going on, you'll find Xbox One consoles marked down by $50 at participating retailers in the U.S. That includes Xbox One bundles that already come with free extras, such as the Xbox One Tom Clancy's The Division Bundle that launched earlier this month. That particular one is on sale for $349, down from $399, and includes a 1TB Xbox One console, wireless controller with 3.5mm headset jack, full game download for The Division, and a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial.
There are also other bundles available, like the Xbox One 500GB Name Your Game Bundle, a $299 system (down from $349) that lets you choose a free game download of either Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, or Rare Replay. And through March 31, you can also add Assassin's Creed Unity, Watch Dog, and The Crew to the list of free game selections (it's still one game, but a larger list).
The sale also applies to pre-orders for the Xbox One Special Edition Quantum Break Bundle, which is another 500GB Xbox One console but dressed in white with a matching controller, Quantum Break full game download, and Xbox 360 full game download of Alan Wake (playable on the Xbox One).
Keep an eye out for related discounts during the Spring Sale. For example, starting tomorrow (March 22) and running for a week, Microsoft will be discounting a bunch of games by up to more than 60 percent in some cases.
While on the topic of Xbox One gaming, Microsoft may soon let you sell your digital titles, though it doesn't sound like the company will offer all that much for them. Microsoft's been pinging users with a survey to gauge their interest, according to a post on reddit.
"If the console digital games store for the console you owned offered customers the option to 'sell back' their digital games to the store for 10 percent of the purchase price in store credit, would you be interested in such an offer?," Microsoft's survey states.
That means if you purchased a title for $60, Microsoft would offer you $6. That's pretty lame, though since we're talking about digital titles and not physical media, it's not like there's any recoverable value to begin with, hence why Microsoft can lowball.
