Here's The Scoop On Star Citizen's Free Fly Event Over The Turkey Day Break
Thanksgiving is almost here and that means that a lot of people will be out of school and off work next week to enjoy some down time with family and friends. Some folks of course will also be looking for a game to play during the break that they can really dig into. Now it appears there's something else to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season, as the game Star Citizen is having a Free Fly event to play the game that spans November 23 through December 1. The Free Fly event will allow players try to every flyable ship the game offers and every other operable vehicle in the game, at no cost.
Players will be able to join any Star Citizen Persistent Universe for free and play the game all they want during the Free Fly date range. Since players will need a ship to explore the game universe, starting on November 23 at 8 AM PST, and every day after that, a different ship manufacturer in the game will make its entire fleet available for a 24-hour test flight period. This might be a good time for anyone who has played the game to get a chance to try out other ships before they spend their hard-earned in-game currency on a ship, only to find out it doesn’t do what they want. While the Free Fly is set to celebrate the anniversary of the game, it’s also to celebrate Hurston, the first explorable planet the game will offer, being available to explore.
Cloud Imperium Games, the game's developer says that those who make the trek out to Hurston will have somec cool surprises to check out. The entire ship fleet from Anvil Aerospace will be available for 24 hours starting on November 23. On November 24, Roberts Space Industries will have its fleet of ships available. November 25 will see the Origin Jumpworks fleet available and on November 26 the Aegis Dynamics fleet will be available. On November 27th, Drake Interplanetary’s fleet is offered, while November 28th will see Alien Manufacturers available, and November 29th is the day to try ships from Musashi Industrial and Starflight Concern. Finally, November 30th Kruger/Argo/Tumbril/Consolidated ships are available including some ground vehicles.
Finally, a bit of good news also is that, if you have played Star Citizen before and left because of poor game performance, a new patch has been made available for the game, bringing it to alpha version 3.3.0. Reports on Reddit from players of the game say that patch has significantly improved performance. Star Citizen can be downloaded on Steam or here at the RSI site and if you decide you want to keep access to all of these ships after the Free Fly event, you could purchase the Legatus Pack that has the game's entire 117 ship fleet for a bargain basement in-game price of $27,000.
