Star Wars Speeder Bike Battle Performed On Modified Hydro Jetbikes Is As Awesome As It Sounds (Watch)

Have you ever dreamed of racing through the forests of Endor on a top-of-the-line speeder bike? YouTuber Devinsupertramp has made this childhood dream into a reality -- sort of. The vlogger refashioned hydro-powered Jetovators into the iconic Star Wars speeders from Return of the Jedi.

The video was filmed on the Sacramento River in California, while the speeders were essentially Jetovators modified with duck tape. According to one of the creators, “If you think of the Jetovator as a Kawasaki Ninja, this is like a custom chopper.” They estimated that they used roughly 75 rolls of duct tape. The three bikes also survived a total of twenty crashes with only a few scratches.

The Jetovators in the video spent almost an equal amount of time in the air, as the did on the platform. The platform was so that the actors could jump from speeder to another. This move was done to mimic a moment when Luke Skywalker jumps from the speeder he was sharing with Princess Leia, to the speeder of a Stormtrooper.

The people from Jetovator also helped the Devinsupertramp team with their costumes. One of the Stormtroopers wore what he called a “Nascar-like flame retardant suit” so that he could be shot and “blow up”. Chewbacca’s “bowcaster” had spray-painted tennis balls on the end in order to make it look more true to the movie.

The Jetovator is a water sports accessory that attaches to a watercraft. It redirects the water thrust from the jet unit of the watercraft along a sixty-six foot hose to the Jetovator bike. The water thrust is then used to propel the Jetovator into the air. The Jetovator is similar to other water sport accessories like water skis, however, they tow the boat instead of being towed by it and costs about $7,000.
