Super Mario Run Android Pre-Registration Opens On Google Play, Beware Of Beta APK Scams

Super Mario Run
Super Mario Run launched on December 15th for iOS, but it looks as though Android users won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on the addictive, auto-running side scroller. Nintendo announced via Twitter that eager Mario fans can now pre-register to be notified when the game is officially available on Android.

All you have to do is head over to the Google Play Store and press the “Pre-Register” button. Unfortunately, we still don’t have a release date for the Android versions of Super Mario Run, but the very fact that Nintendo has at least put up a landing page should bode well for it arriving within the new few weeks (hopefully, sooner).

If the Android version of Super Mario Run is anything like the iOS version, we should expect it to have limited “free to play” capabilities. iPhone users can play the first three levels of Super Mario Run for free, but have to pony up $9.99 to unlock the entire game. This has drawn the ire of many gamers and analysts.

In fact, Super Mario Run currently sits at a 2.5 stars (out of 5 stars) rating with over 16,500 reviews submitted. Despite the middling reviews, the game was downloaded over 40 million times from the iOS App Store within its first four days of availability. We have the feeling that Nintendo will find even greater success on the Android platform given Android’s huge OS market share advantage.

We have one closing warning for Android users looking to get an early look at Super Mario Run. Some scammer websites are advertising that you can download the beta of Super Mario Run and try it for free. To do so, you have to adjust your security settings and sideload an APK. DO NOT DO IT! These are not Nintendo-sanctioned website and the app that is downloading is nothing but virus-laden malware. Be careful out there folks!
