Super Talent Ships Speedy TeraDrive CT SSD Family

Some SSDs are getting larger. Some are getting more advanced. And some are just getting faster. Super Talent is hoping to touch on all three improvement points with their newest units, the all-new TeraDrive CT. These units just began shipping to consumers in the U.S. today, with the TeraDrive CT boasting the rare SandForce 1222 SSD processor.

Each of these support the SATA-II 3Gbps interface, with sequential read and write speeds up to 285 and 275 MB/sec, respectively. It even has integrated Garbage Collection and TRIM support for sustained performance increases over the life of the drive. There's also RAISE technology for enhanced reliability and DuraWrite for increased endurance, not to mention improvements in wear leveling, bad block management, and excellent ECC with up to 24 symbols correctable per 512 byte sector. Super Talent is using MLC NAND Flash and a "new improved firmware that yields greater usable capacity than earlier 1222 based SSDs. What's wild is that these will be available as small as 60GB and as large as 480GB, though the 480GB one just says "Contact Us" for pricing. Yikes. The 60GB unit is $199, the 120GB one if $349 and the 240GB is $669, for reference.
