T-Mobile Promises To Launch Nationwide 5G Network In December
T-Mobile says that the combined T-Mobile and Sprint will be a "supercharged Un-carrier" that is bigger and better with plans to use 5G for good. The merged Sprint and T-Mobile is being called the New T-Mobile, and it is outlining three new initiatives focused on using 5G for good.
The first is the Connecting Heroes Initiative, which is a decade long commitment to providing free 5G access with unlimited talk, text, and data to every first responder at every public and non-profit state and local police, fire, and EMS agency in the country. Project 10million is a new program that will eradicate the homework gap that exists for millions of children by offering free service and hotspots and reduced cost devices to 10 million households around the U.S. over the next five years.
T-Mobile Connect is a new prepaid service that will bring a $15 monthly prepaid option to everyone, especially lower-income consumers. The 5G network that T-Mobile plans to launch on December 6 will cover more than 200 million Americans in more than 5,000 cities and towns across the country, including millions of people in rural America. Devices that will be offered to support the new network include the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G or OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren with both phones supporting the Sprint mid-band 5G spectrum with the New T-Mobile in 2020.
