Thanos Hits Fortnite Tomorrow For Limited Time Avengers: Infinity War Crossover

Fortnite is the biggest game on the planet right now, and developer Epic Games sure knows how to keep the hype train steaming along. Today, Epic announced that Marvel super-baddie Thanos is coming to the game for a limited time crossover event.

Thanos will appear in a new game mode called “Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup”, which will have 100 players scavenging the map for the Infinity Gauntlet with all six Infinity Stones. With the Infinity Gauntlet in hand, you'll be able to "power up" into Thanos to crush all opponents.

So how did we arrive at this epic crossover? It turns out that Avengers: Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo are big fans of Fortnite and even managed to cram in gaming sessions while the movie was in the editing room. Needless to say, the idea of bringing the two popular franchises together seemed like a no-brainer.

“And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind of Avengers–Fortnite mashup? So, we stalked [Donald Mustard],” said Joe Russo in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. For those not in the know, Mustard is the worldwide creative director for Epic Games.

“It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about," added Mustard.

The Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup goes live starting tomorrow, and will be available on all platforms (PC, Mac, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, iOS) as a free-to-play mode. There is no indication how long the event will last, but we suggest that you get your "game on" as soon as you can before it ends.

Just last week, Epic Games opened up Season 4, which saw a comet impact the map to alter the landscape and shakeup the gameplay mechanics.
