Mobvoi TicWatch Pro Dual-Screen Wear OS Smartwatch Impresses With Crazy Long Battery Life
Anyone who has ever owned a smartwatch can tell you that they are great as long as they are charged nightly (or at least every other night). A watch from a Chinese firm Mobvoi dubbed the TicWatch Pro claims to be able to provide up to 30 days of battery life via a 415mAh battery.
It can achieve that long battery life due to the fact that it has two screens integrated into the face of the wearable. The top layer of the screen sandwich is a traditional LCD that gives you black numbers on a greyish face like many digital watches and calculators that have been around for decades. Layered under that power miserly traditional LCD screen is the brightly colored and sleek AMOLED screen that smartwatches of modern times use.
For times when power is low, or you don’t need fancy colors, that LCD screen is the ticket. This mixed approach to displaying time allows the TicWatch Pro to promise battery life anywhere from five to 30 days long, depending on how much you use the OLED screen.
The downside to having two screens smashed inside such a small wearable is thickness, the watch is thicker than comparable devices. TicWatch Pro runs Wear OS and uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset. It does support NFC and has 512MB of RAM with 4GB of onboard storage.
The watch measures 45mm x 14.6mm and the AMOLED screen is a 1.39-inch unit with 400x400 resolution. Mobvoi does integrate GPS/AGPS, Bluetooth 4.2, and WiFi. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyro, magnetic sensor, PPG heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, and low latency body-off sensor into the device. The TicWatch Pro is offered in shadow black or liquid metal silver colors for $249.99.
