Top Competitive Streamers Are Raking In Over $50,000 An Hour To Play Hot New Games

If you've ever questioned your financial worth or how much you're making at your current job, you might want to stop reading at this point. A new report is detailing just how much the world's top streamers can earn for a few hours of streaming, and it is a staggering amount. 

The report from the Wall Street Journal claims that some of the top game publishers like Electronic Arts, Activision Blizzard and Take-Two are paying streamers upwards of $50,000 to stream. And no, we're not talking about $50,000 for a week's or even day's worth or work. Instead, these companies are paying $50,000 per hour.

These publishers are counting on the huge followings that these streamers have amassed to generate buzz around their newly released games and get attention to boost sales. Streamer DrLupo, for example, has over 3.2 million Twitch followers which could be a virtual gold mine to a company like Ubisoft, for example.

Interestingly, a follow-up report from Kotaku highlights that this doesn't even scratch the surface at the amount of money that's being tossed around in the gaming community. “I can’t share specific companies, as the payment terms are usually confidential," said Omeed Dariani, who serves as CEO of a firm that represents some of the world's top streamers. 

"We had one offer from a AAA publisher that was $60K per hour for two hours. The broadcaster declined it—and the publisher came back with a ‘blank check’ offer, which was still declined.”

Color us shocked and genuinely intrigued. We reported back in early April that a 14-year-old teen from New York is earning $200,000 a year simply by playing Fortnite and streaming his antics via YouTube and Twitch. He has over 1.2 million followers, and dropped out of high school to stream 8 hours during weekdays and as many as 18 hours on weekends.

One of the most prolific streamers, however, is no doubt Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins. This gaming mastermind reportedly pulls in a massive $500,000 per month and $10 million in 2018 alone through his streams and endorsements.
