Toshiba Introduces Regza AT300 Tablet For Japan

At a recent news conference, Toshiba said it plans to launch its first tablet computer in Japan in June where it will be known as the Regza AT300. An official name for the US launch of this tablet has not been announced, though many reports believe it will be known as the Toshiba Thrive. A global launch for the tablet is expected around the same time as the Japanese launch. Toshiba showed off this tablet at CES in January.

The tablet will run Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and will feature a 10.1-inch screen, a NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, front- and rear-facing cameras, 16GB of storage, and 1GB of memory. Expected connectivity options for the tablet include USB, miniUSB, HDMI, and an SD card slot. The tablet is also expected to offer 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1. Toshiba’s tablet will also feature a removable battery pack. A long-life battery will be an optional accessory.

In addition to the upcoming tablet, Toshiba is planning a glasses-free 3D laptop that uses a thin lens in front of the display along with a camera to provide a 3D experience for users. An official release date for this laptop, which is expected to be part of the Qosmio line, is not yet available.
