Touch Screen Orders Fuel Apple Netbook Rumors

New Apple netbook rumors have arisen. A report from Digitimes cites a Commercial Times report that Taiwan-based Wintek will supply touch panels for "Apple's new netbook" due in the 3rd quarter of 2009.
Wintek revealed that it is currently working with Apple to develop some new products, but it said it does not know what applications the new products are for. Wintek added that no shipment schedule has been worked out yet, but shipments are likely to begin in the second half of the year.

Quanta Computer will be the maker of Apple's new netbook, the Commerical (sic) Times report said.
Interesting. Last year in Apple's fiscal Q4 conference call Steve Jobs stated that netbooks weren't selling that much --- then. And he also noted the iPhone gave Apple an entrance into that category, so he said.

Of course, rumors over a possible Apple netbook have been around since the "category" first arose. This makes me wonder, however, if Apple will have to join the effort against Psion's trademark of that term.
