TP-Link Deco M9 Plus Tri-Band Mesh Router Adds Smart Home Controls And Alexa Support

TP-Link has been making mesh routers in the Deco range for a while now that are designed to give you WiFi access all around a home or office. Last year, the company launched the Deco M5 mesh router and now the company has announced the new Deco M9 Plus. This mesh router is notable because in addition to offering WiFi coverage, it also has an integrated smart home hub for IoT devices.

The M9 Plus supports AC2200 speeds and tri-band WiFi with dedicated 5GHz backhaul for faster speeds and dependable connectivity for over 100 devices across the entire home. The router uses TP-Link Mesh technology to eliminate dead spots in the home or office with a single Deco M9 Plus kit with a pair of the access points covering up to 4,500 square feet.

The router is able to identify the strongest path for every device to give uninterrupted WiFi in every corner of your home. Smart home hub functionality includes the ability to control ZigBee, Bluetooth, and WiFi enabled smart devices via the Deco app. With integrated smart home hub function, no additional controller will be needed. Compatibility with Amazon Alexa and IFTTT is also built-in.

Security for the network is powered by Trend Micro HomeCare providing antivirus and malware protection. That protection covers all devices on the network including devices lacking integrated protection like smart cameras, WiFi based smart home devices, and game consoles. The system is updated via Trend Micro so the network is always protected. The router also supports malicious site blocking within the network.
