Twitter Adds Video+Photo Search, MMS Support Coming

Still using Twitter.com as your main portal into Twitter? You're now in the minority, but that's alright. Twitter's still looking out for you, with the introduction this week of Search+Photos. Now, when you search, you can find images as well as videos, instead of just tweets as before. The company's introducing a "completely new version of twitter search," which will deliver more relevant tweets, but will also also show you related photos and videos, right there on the results page.

And if you use this new version of Firefox with Twitter, you can type a #hashtag or @username directly into the address bar to go right to a search results page (try #idol) or someone's profile page (like @nba). Over the next few weeks, the company will be releasing a feature to upload a photo and attach it to your Tweet right from Twitter.com. And of course, you'll soon be able to easily do this from all of our official mobile apps. Photobucket will be the company hosting up those photos.

And since a great deal of Twitter users connect through MMS and SDS, Twitter's working with mobile carriers around the world so you can also send photos via text message (MMS). Definitely a great step in the right direction, and there's a video below showcasing the new tweaks.
