Ubisoft CEO ‘Loves’ NX Claiming It Will Put Nintendo Back In The Console Race
Ubisoft has got Nintendo’s back. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot remarked that he was a huge fan of the upcoming Nintendo NX and is confident that it will put the company back on the console map. “The new Nintendo [console] is a fantastic machine," stated Guillemot. "It's really a new approach, it's really Nintendo, [which is] coming with something new again. We love it."
Guillemot is partly supportive of the Nintendo NX because he believes that it will lead to greater creativity at Ubisoft. He argued that gamers are now more open to new hardware and therefore more willing to test innovative products. He insisted, “For us, a machine is a tool of expression, but when everything become stable it's less open to innovation. We always want innovation.”
Some have expressed concern that if multinational mass media conglomerate Vivendi takes over Ubisoft, the company will be unable to quickly release accompanying products for the Nintendo NX. Ubisoft recently nominated two independent directors to help prevent the takeover and to produce new, compelling products. It has been confirmed that Just Dance will be available on the NX.
The Nintendo NX is rumored to be a hybrid home and handheld console. It has also been that reported that the portable console will be able to connect to big screen HDTV’s through a docking station.The NX might be one of the first game consoles in some time to not incorporate AMD hardware and will likely contain NVIDIA's Tegra X1. The NX will use a brand new Nintendo-developed operating system (instead of Android), will not have backwards compatibility with Wii or Wii U games, and won't incorporate VR. It has also been recently confirmed that the Pokémon Company will create games specifically for the Nintendo NX.
The Nintendo NX overall is shrouded in mystery and will likely continue to remain so until its expected unveiling some time before the close of 2016. The device is slated to launch in March 2017.
