Uncharted 4 Delayed Until May 10th, Multiplayer Beta Opens This Weekend

Developer Naughty Dog has been a naughty dog, indeed. Publisher Sony announced today yet another delay for Naughty Dog's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which is now slated to ship exclusively to PlayStation 4 consoles on May 10, 2016. On the bright side, it's only a two-week delay from its previously announced ship date, though this is the third time the game's release has been pushed back.

Naughty Dog and Sony originally hoped to launch Uncharted 4 in 2015 but the need for more development time led to its release being pushed back to March 18, 2016. The day before Christmas, Sony announced that it was again delaying the launch with a new release date of April 26, 2016, and now this one.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

"As you know, Naughty Dog is wrapping up production on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End with the game on track to go gold and into production later this month. In an effort to meet the considerable worldwide demand, and to ensure that all gamers worldwide have the opportunity to play the game on day one, we have chosen to postpone the launch of the game by two weeks to allow for extra manufacturing time," Sony CEO Shawn Layden said.

The good news there is that development on Uncharted 4 is virtually complete. Sony's reason for delaying the title a couple of additional weeks is so that it can print more copies of the game, which it anticipates being a big hit. As for the game itself, Layden says it's "phenomenal" and will be worth the wait to experience Nathan Drake's last adventure.

If you're anxious to try the game out, Naughty Dog and Sony will be testing out the title's multiplayer mode this weekend. You don't even need a PlayStation Plus subscription to participate in the beta, just a PS4 console.

The Uncharted 4 multiplayer stress test will kick off on March 4, 2016, at 9:00 AM Pacific and end March 6 at 11:59 PM Pacific.
