Valve's Mobile Steam App Exits Closed Beta, Now Available to Everyone

Someone must have spiked Valve's water cooler with energy drinks, which would explain how it made quick work of finalizing its Steam Mobile application for iOS and Android devices. Valve launched its mobile Steam application as a closed beta last week, and now just five days later, it's been polished and made available to download for gamers around the globe.

If you're a fan of Steam, this is a must-have app that allows you check in and chat with your Steam buddies, browse community groups and user profiles, view screenshots and user-generated content, view special deals and promotions, keep abreast of the latest gaming news, append your Wishlist, and more while on-the-go using your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, or any number of Android devices.

We tried it out ourselves and found that it's generally fast and responsive and mostly devoid of hiccups. The only glitch we ran into was, on occasion, the inability to access the Settings menu, which appears at the bottom of the list of actions. When scrolling to make the option visible, it would sometimes bounce out of view and out of reach. Otherwise, it's a pretty nifty app that's easy to navigate.
