Verizon's iPad 2 Having Connectivity Issues, Apple's Looking Into It

Not surprisingly, Apple's iPad 2 has been a tough one to get a handle on. They're largely still sold out everywhere, and as with the first iPad, this new one is proving to be quite the hot commodity. But for those who picked up the first iPad to have integrated Verizon WWAN capabilities (the first was simply paired with an external MiFi), you may be experiencing some problems.

According to an AllThingsD report, Apple is currently "investigating" issues that involve connectivity problems with the Verizon iPad 2. For whatever reason, the AT&T iPad 2 and the Wi-Fi iPad 2 seem to be okay, with just the VZW version causing major headaches. Here's the quote, attributed to an Apple spokesperson: "We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it." A Verizon representative didn't reply back with comment.

Apple's support pages are booming with people complaining about their connectivity woes, but it's good to see the company looking into things rather than letting it simmer. It makes you wonder, though: what does it take to get Apple's attention to these issues? We're certain that there are more issues than this when it comes to Apple products. Our guess is the tie-in with Verizon; rather than having one company exposed to complaints, now there are two. A total guess, of course, but it still has us wondering...
