Vivo V15 Phone Screams Excess With 32MP Pop-Up Selfie Camera

All eyes are on Samsung and its upcoming Unpacked event as February 20 rolls into view, as the company is expected to announced its Galaxy S10 lineup and a new folding smartphone. Be that as it may, Samsung is not the only company with something up its sleeve. Vivo's social media team has been flailing about on Twitter, drawing attention to its V15 Pro smartphone with a pop-up camera.

Like Samsung, Vivo is planning a full reveal of its upcoming handset on February 20, which is now just a week and a half away. In the meantime, Vivo confirmed that the V15 Pro will sport a pop-up camera for taking selfies, which means no bezel, no notch, and no punch-hole design—just a clean, full-front display with an embedded fingerprint sensor. But that's not all.
This pop-up camera will sport a 32-megapixel sensor. That's right—not a 3-megapixel camera, not a 2-megapixel camera, and not a 3.2-megapixel camera, but a whopping 32 megapixels. Holy sensor overload, Batman!

There is more to image quality than the raw megapixel count, but it is a good place to start. More megapixels typically equates to capturing more details, unless there is something seriously wrong with the sensor. Assuming that's not the case here, the V15 Pro should be capable of taking stunningly detailed selfies—users will want to trim their nose hairs.
Vivo also confirmed the V15 Pro will wield a triple rear camera arrangement consisting of a "48 million quad pixel sensor (12-megapixel effective)" for the main shooter, a secondary lens with 8 megapixels, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor for snapping portraits.

Camera performance is obviously the key selling point of the V15 Pro. How it actually performs when taking photos remains to be seen. Beyond the high megapixel counts of the front and back cameras, an important factor will be how much light the sensors let in, which will play a big role in how well the phone snaps photos in low light situations.

Other details are not yet known either, such as what processor Vivo will shoehorn underneath the hood, how much RAM and storage the V15 Pro will have, and what the selling price will be.
