Volition To Send Players To Hell In 2015 With Standalone Saints Row Expansion 'Gat Out Of Hell'

Volition's  Saints Row series is well-known for being one of the most ridiculous out there in terms of story and gameplay, and it appears that not a thing will change with the company's next release, Gat Out Of Hell. The game was announced at this weekend's PAX Prime in Seattle, and interestingly, it's not a full game. Instead, it's a standalone expansion, much like Far Cry's Blood Dragon was in that series.

Gat Out Of Hell's $19.99 price tag reflects the game's slimmer design, but that doesn't mean that there isn't going to be a lot to see and do. The developers say that the game world in this expansion will be about half the size of Steelport, and judging by the screenshot below, it seems likely that Steelport will remain involved in this release in some way.

In Gat Out Of Hell, the Saints' Johnny Gat and Kinzie play with a ouija board and get sucked right into hell. Don't you just hate it when that happens? While down there, they'll battle some "prominent historial figures" and ultimately face off against Satan. To help Johnny and Kinzie get their job done, a bunch of new weapons will be made available, including a hilarious La-Z-Boy recliner equipped with guns, called Arm Chairmageddon. Another fun one is Locust Gun, allowing you to shoot a plague of frogs. Yes - Volition sure hasn't lost its sense of humor

Gat Out Of Hell is going to be released on January 27th for the PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and One, as well as the PC. The expansion will also be bundled in with a re-release of Saints Row IV that will hit the PS4 and XBO, called Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, which presumably will come out at around the same time.
